Bonding
Dental bonding is a procedure used for several purposes, including filling cavities, closing gaps between teeth and protecting roots of teeth. Bonding also can be used to cosmetically cover discolored and otherwise unattractive teeth.
The process begins with matching a composite resin material to the color of the patient’s natural teeth. The dentist will roughen the surface of the tooth before a bonding liquid is applied. The soft composite resin is placed on the tooth and a fiber optic light is projected onto the bonded area activating the hardening process. After a bit of shaping and polishing, the bonded tooth looks completely natural.
